  1. look forward to following your new adventures tours. I’m sadly not in a position to travel full-time now but when I collect Huge money i will travel everywhere.

  2. Hi Jaclynn,

Kudos to you! I just did a three-month trip in South America after finishing a two-year job contract. Wish I could have travelled longer but I’ve got bills to pay! Feel free to let me know if you need any information on South America. Otherwise, have fun and stay safe on your travels! ;)

    1. Thanks Geraldine! I definitely will need some info, will let you know when I narrow it down some :)

Well you can still squeeze in some travels even with work – that’s what The Occasional Traveller is all about anyway… happy travels!

  3. Hey there – I like your philosophy! I’m doing something similar to you end of year (quitting my corporate job and have a one way ticket to SE Asia), and boy, is it scary!

I like the idea of doing it for a few months then coming back to reality. I actually tend to think once we’ve been on the road for more than a few months, it’ll be nice to come home. Long term travel will have a lot to teach us – for sure.

Best of luck on your journey :)

    1. great to hear from you Amber, and if you ever drop by Singapore, feel free to give a holler! happy to hang out if we’re both in town :)

one of my favourite things about travel has always been coming back home :) good luck for your travels too!

  4. Aloha Jaclynn! Chanced upon your blog, wanted to learn more on self defense before embarking on a years’ round-Europe trip. Good luck for all the adventures! Keep on wriitng!

  5. Respect! Looking forward to reading more about your travel experiences from the long trip!

    Happy and Safe Travels!

  6. Good for you Jac!

The best adventure you’ll ever go on is to discover the world and grow on every level while taking in spectacular sights, try new food, drinks, meet amazing persons who will have more than a lesson to teach you but best of all, you will look back and say that it was the best decision and investment EVER ;)

    Happy travels!

  7. Life itself is already a travel journey. Hope you can find out what you are searching for in your coming trips :-)

    1. Thank you Paulo – Deciding to go on the trip helped me figure some things out, and I think the trip itself might add more new answers (and possibly new questions too >_<) :)

  8. Congrats Jac. I’m so excited for you. Hope it turns out even better than you can imagine. Stay safe and find joy everywhere.

  9. Look forward to reading about your travels this year, I’ve left my job a few times for long extended periods of travel and during those periods I found that I grew the most as a person and helped me grow as a person. It can only be a good thing :D

    1. I really think you are something, considering how you just uprooted yourself and just leaped into nomadic life. I’m a little curious to see how I’ll turn out at the end of it, probably gonna try and keep a more detailed personal diary to look back on :)

Definitely meet up when you swing by Singapore! :)

  10. Congrats! It’s true, there’s never a right time to make a major lifestyle change like this. People always asked me why I quit my job to travel…my reply: “I just felt it was time.” And also the “brave” part…I always jokingly reply “there’s a fine line between brave and stupid” :P

P.S. It was great to finally meet you last week! Looking forward to more of your travel stories.

    1. It’s not the most orthodox decision, which is probably why sometimes people can’t quite wrap their heads around it. I thought I’d be a bit more freaked out about it but you know what, the past 2 weeks since I threw my letter have felt more positively buoyant. Not sure if that’s just because my brain is in ORD mode at work or just maybe it feels like things are falling into place :)

Great to meet you too! We’ll see each other at more travel-ly stuff :)

  11. Good luck to you, look forward to following your adventures! I’m sadly not in a position to travel full-time, so will have to save that for later, but in the meantime will continue to be an occasional traveller myself. Hope you have a great time and good on you for going for it! Keri x

  12. Congrats Jac! So excited for you!!
Can’t wait to follow along. I can empathize with needing to write more. I just took a 1.5 month break from my blog to see if I really loved keeping it up. Result: Couldn’t stay away long. I find that it keeps me curious as I travel and want to pursue new experiences even more so that I have more interesting content. Here’s to our 2016 and all that it may bring!

    1. I’m really excited too Murissa! I’m gonna be catching up with our Bloghouse peeps based in Europe in June when I’m there, trying to engineer some sort of reunion :P

I know what you mean about not being able to keep away! I was getting quite bogged down by work and stopped blogging for a month of so, but when I managed to write something I felt so much better about it, and yes I think writing makes me want to be a more interesting person :)

      Cheers to us in 2016!
