Four random Dublin shop fronts (and a really mysterious one)

On one of the rare days where the sun was shining in Dublin, I took a walk along the Liffey River on a Saturday morning to get to the Old Jameson Distillery. Now, Saturday morning in Dublin is a little like a ghost town – everyone was out partying the night before and spending the morning recovering, so there was hardly anyone on the streets, and many of the shops were closed when I went walking.

I did come across a few interesting shop fronts, including one really mysterious one that I need your help with, check it out:

The Bondi Beach Club paints a rather poetic story, I wonder if you actually get the smell of ‘Eastern Spices’ et all in there?

The sign reads: adifferentkettleoffishaltogether – you have to wonder what on earth this is. A tea shop?

I love the pretty windows, but this picture is also awesome because it’s Saturday afternoon about 12 noon when I took this – those guys to the right JUST got out of the bar, and the owner is in the process of shuttering the doors. THAT’s how the Irish people party.

The Irish Historical Picture Company? Man this place looks like it’s seen better times.

But of all the shopfronts, this one in particular caught my attention:

The Black Quill bookshop? Athen Bauillian, some fancy Irish pub? I’m just throwing stuff out, I have no idea what those words could be. What do you think?

It’s just so mysterious looking right? All black exterior, a red door, what do you think it sells?

Now I could have walked over and see if there was better signage on the other side, or found a poster or something, but I thought leaving it to my imagination would be more fun. Anyone has a creative shop name that fits in with those letters? Feel free to elaborate and let your imagination run away with you!

via Priscilla: As a Dublin local I can tell you that you were close with the name of the mysterious building. It was a pub that is now closed down called The Quill. It was one of the oldest pubs in Dublin – around 400 years old. I found out that it played a role in an escape plot by rebels during the 1916 Easter Rising.

How cool is that! I’m just a little sad that 400 years of heritage seems to have closed down, boo!
