An Irish theatre classic – Waiting for Godot

In Ireland by Jaclynn Seah0 Comments

So I had my fair share of drinks in Dublin, and I walked the city till my legs were about to drop off. For something a little different, I decided to check out a more cultural side of Dublin while I was there – the Dublin Theatre Festival. I love a good performance when I’m overseas, and I think it adds variety to the usual tourist attractions and scenery that one usually encounters. Deciding what to watch was a little stressful because all this artist talk baffles me sometimes, but I decided to stick with a classic and check out …

Four random Dublin shop fronts (and a really mysterious one)

In Ireland by Jaclynn Seah0 Comments

*Added 31 Mar 2014: Update on the mysterious shop below! So a short visual treat for you on one of the rare days where the sun is shining in Dublin – I took a walk along the Liffey River on a Saturday morning to get to the Old Jameson Distillery. Now, Saturday morning in Dublin is a little like a ghost town – everyone was out partying the night before and spending the morning recovering, so there was hardly anyone on the streets, and many of the shops were closed when I went walking. I did come across a few …

Dublin’s Avalon House Reviewed

In Ireland by Jaclynn Seah2 Comments

Dublin vs Prague continues! This time we compare the hostels in which I stayed in both places – first up is the Dublin Stay at Avalon House. After 3 intense days of being cooped up in BlogHouse, it was time for me to be on my own in Dublin. I had booked myself a room in Avalon House – it was oddly quiet having a space all to myself after living with 15 other people in one rowdy castle for the past few days, but kinda nice too. Read on for my hostel review:   LOCATION The hostel is located …

Irish beer and other alcoholic beverages

In Ireland by Jaclynn Seah0 Comments

It’s time for the first Dublin vs Prague post – I found these two cities shared surprising similarities in my time there and thought it would be fun to compare them. First up, one of my all-time favourite subjects: BEER (and other alcoholic substances). Sometime last month I was told that my Instagram account @jac_theocctrav has an increasing number of alcohol related pix on it. I counted to be sure: it’s hovering around 10% (which seems… healthy?)     It’s probably gone up since this last trip, because there’s no way you can visit Dublin properly without having a pint …

BlogHouse Ireland for me (and whether it’s for you)

In Ireland by Jaclynn Seah17 Comments

The one thing that keeps coming up when I talk to people about my Dublin trip is this little thing called BlogHouse that I went up there for. If you’ve seen some of the previous posts, you’ll have an idea on what that is, but for those scratching their heads, here’s more explanation:     What on earth is a ‘BlogHouse’? In short, it’s a little intensive training camp of sorts organized by the bloggers of Navigate Media Group, who select a small group of interested travel bloggers from a pool of applicants and bring them together to teach them …

Detouring to Dublin and Popping over to Prague – The EU Solo Recap

In Czech Republic, Ireland by Jaclynn Seah6 Comments

Hello my lovelies I am back! I know it feels like ages, anyone miss me? Well I do believe in taking a proper holiday when I go on one, travel blogger or not, so usually my blog takes a holiday with me as well. Right, now where to begin? It’s been such an intensive time I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to really get everything written down properly, so here’s a rather brief run-down and some teaser snaps from my Instagram @jac_theocctrav of my 2013 solo trip to Europe – in which I was hardly ever alone, really.   …

Weekend Wanderlusting: Dublin (and TBEX Europe 2013!)

In Ireland by Jaclynn Seah4 Comments

So hard to concentrate on work when you know an awesome holiday is impending! The intense trip planning and prep had me doing some serious wanderlusting this past few weeks…   I’m headed up to… Dublin, Ireland   I’m going because… My initial trip plan was just to visit Prague, but it turns out that TBEX Europe 2013, a travel blogging conference, was gonna be happening during the period I was up in Europe, and since I haven’t been to Ireland and it’s pretty convenient from Prague, I bought my TBEX ticket (just US$77 for the early bird price) and …
