Updates: HotelClub Award, NewsLoop Syndication, Korrespondent Interview

Hello my Occasional Travellers – today I’m doing a little bit of an update while I’m prepping for a trip and trying to catch some sleep. I did one of those massively stupid things by not saving my work, and the internet made a painstakingly written post that took 4 hours to write disappear completely in the blink of an eye, and it’s somehow put me off creative writing for a bit :/

So I thought I’d update on some of the latest happenings for me and The Occasional Traveller instead:

HotelClub Loves The Occasional Traveller

Best Travel Blog 2013 Singapore

HotelClub has chosen The Occasional Traveller as one of its Best Travel Blogs from Singapore for 2013! It is indeed quite an honour, and I’m up with a pretty illustrious group of Singapore Travel Bloggers, including PassportChop.com, Sylistic.com, travelfolio and Travel and Beyond!

I’m amused they chose to use that particular picture of me, which comes from this post back in 2011 when I was at Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake. It’s been awhile since I’ve had hair so long!

The Occasional Traveller on NewsLoop

NewsLoop

For readers of news on Singtel’s NewsLoop app, you’ll be glad to know that The Occasional Traveller is now syndicated there, and you can customize your feeds to get you not just hard news from news sites, but the latest articles from your favourite websites in Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand!

NewsLoop

Look for The Occasional Traveller under Travel>Singapore and select my feed (The Occasional Traveller) to read articles there and stay updated on my latest blogposts! This is the first place that my stuff is getting syndicated to, and also a bit of an experiment towards possible monetization in future.

Getting quoted in Cyrillic – Interview by Ukraine’s Korrespondent

Korrespondent

One of the more amazing things that’s happened so far is that I’ve been featured in Ukraine’s Korrespondent magazine… I think! I can’t read Cyrillic to be sure, but I’m pretty sure that’s my name in the last column on page 39. The reporter was looking for commentary on Singapore’s National Day rally speech this year, and while I answered a whole bunch of questions, the quote in this article is mostly about me being concerned about Singapore’s housing issues (yes I’m concerned) and whether I will be able to afford it in future (pretty sure not!).

You can read the article (if you read cyrillic) here. Thanks to reporter Inna Pryadko for the opportunity.

Basically, things have been pretty interesting of late! I do have some other things up my sleeve, like cool reviews and even a possible giveaway – stay tuned for more.
