Ok August has come to an end and if you’ve been following my Instagram you’ll know that I am soooooo behind on the #DailyTravelette posts! But no matter, I’ll get there… eventually! In the meantime here’s some more of my posts from earlier in the month
For a recap of the main prompts, check the earlier post here. Onward!
DAY 7: CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT
It’s true, I can’t live without a good chocolate dessert! I don’t drink coffee or tea, so by midday my energy is always at its lowest; chocolate is what gets me up and going again! And when given a choice, I’ll always pick chocolate over anything else! This yummy looking morsel is from Torte, a tiny little cafe down along Waterloo Street in the SCWO building. They do serve other food there, but seriously, just go for the wonderful tortes and have them with ice cream, please!
DAY 8: A NEW ROAD
Can you tell how much I really like my UAE shots? This particular shot was taken in the Liwa Desert during our stay at Qasr al Sarab; I was out exploring the dunes and meandered my way up one – the best way to get footing in the fine sand is to come at it sideways rather than head on! This path was made by me climbing up and climbing back down again.
DAY 9: SOMETHING NEW YOU’VE TRIED
It was Singapore’s National Day and I was out with my Yanzs girlies (fun fact: by some strange coincidence, the 4 of us have the same ‘Yan’/Swallow character in our Chinese names. We found that out while travelling together to Bangkok last year and filling up immigration forms!) and because they know how much I hate eating vegetables, they very gleefully insisted that I try the Basil Ice Cream at Kilo by Pact (located at Orchard Central). Now my motto is to try anything at least once, so I gamely finished that whole cup, but I have to report that it felt like eating leaves – it was so green~
DAY 10: WORDS TO TRAVEL BY
This particular quote was taken from the Noise Singapore youth art exhibition at Ion Orchard in which I was working at, and I thought it really encapsulated what I believe about travel – that you should do it how you want and not be constrained by anybody’s expectations, ever!
DAY 11: A SUNSET
Singapore surprises me sometimes! I came out of the shopping centre at Marina Square one day, intending to walk over to the Esplanade across the street. I remember that I was with A, and both of us stopped short just to stare at the unbelievably pink sky for awhile.
DAY 12: A TRAIN
I could have picked a more traditional train picture, like my Taiwan Tales where most of my transit was by train, or the incredible 16-hour Vietnamese train ride from Danang to Hanoi, but the best train story that I have is really this one from travels with my dad back in the day – I’ll always remember this Christmas train diorama in the Millenium hotel in Seoul and its rather macabre train display!
