Vietnam Sights – Hoi An

In Vietnam by Jaclynn Seah1 Comment

Almost done with Vietnam posts! Think we only have the rest of Hanoi left to go… phew! Ploughing through all my pix is tiring! Hoi An was a lovely stop on my trip, and while I had thought twice about visiting it as it was pretty far from Hanoi, I’m glad I made the trip in the end – it’s nice place to just kick back, and I would have loved to have more time just chilling out there. The weather was excellent when I was there, sunny and bright blue skies, just 2 days after a crazy downpour and …

Vietnam Sights – Hue

In Vietnam by Jaclynn Seah0 Comments

FINALLY we continue with the Vietnam posts! Gosh these are sooooo overdue! I shall churn the rest of them out before I head on my April trip, I promise! So now we’re talking about Hue… My everlasting memory of Hue will be of how wet it was, and yet I was extremely lucky to miss the worst of the heavy flooding! More Vietnam posts! The hotel I stayed at in Hue was the Valentine Hotel, where I only stayed for 1 night after my overnight train ride from Hanoi to Hue. I would depart early next morning to catch a bus to Hoi An. You can find more pix at the TripAdvisor review site, those down here are the few that I took. Location: Valentine Hotel is located on Nguyen Cong Tru street which is a little lane (so narrow only 1 car get pass at a time) off the main road, so it’s a bit of a walk in. It’s …

Getting around Vietnam by Train

In Vietnam by Jaclynn Seah8 Comments

For my Vietnam trip, I had 2 main regions to cover – the Hanoi/Halong Bay area in the North, as well as the Central parts consisting of Hue and Hoi An. My Guesthouse recommended for me to take the train and handled all the bookings for me, so I didn’t actually give it much thought until I was in Vietnam itself. I’d done train rides in Taiwan, France and Spain, including an ultra long one from Murcia (Southeast Spain) up to Montpellier (Southern France), but I haven’t had the chance to do a sleeper train, so I was honestly quite …
