And FINALLY I’m making my first overseas trip for 2014 after the Bangkok trip got cancelled! Ooh it’s been such a long few weeks waiting for this to happen…
I’m headed up to…
to just go up for a nice weekend in Penang and CHILLAX. I’m headed there with A whom I’ve been up to Bangkok with previously, and was supposed to head up there with again in January. This trip is to make up for our cancelled Bangkok weekend!
We’re planning to eat our way around Penang and gorge on their local delights, as well as check out their local street art and just have a relaxing time all around.
I’m flying up by…
Budget airline Tiger Air was having a promo, and we got our tickets for S$113 all-in without any check in luggage. Jetstar flies up for decent prices but the timings are not as good – there’s no morning flight so you waste a day, and Air Asia for some reason wasn’t going as cheaply.

I’m staying at…
We were recommended Mango Tree Place by our friend P, a cozy little guesthouse in Georgetown. Accommodation in Penang has a pretty wide range, but it’s not very expensive in general – This cost us $300 in total for 2 nights, which is $150/person or $75/room/night which is decent given that breakfast is thrown in as well! It’s definitely not the cheapest place – there are lots of much cheaper options that you can go for in Penang, but we wanted to stay somewhere nicer – We’re sharing a Ground-floor Courtyard Suite which apparently comes with its own private courtyard with swing!

I’ll also be…
I’ll get to test out the Wi-Ho! wireless device in another country – no more hunting down cafes for free wi-fi!
And that’s really key because I’m going to be doing another tech review by taking the Google Nexus 7 along with me! I’m a little relieved not to have to lug my laptop along seriously, especially because I’m not checking in any luggage – this really lightens the load for me!
