Did you enjoy Murissa’s shot of the cutely named See Ya Later ranch in Okanagan, Canada in the last Wallpaper Wanderer? This time around we’ve got something from a completely different part of the world contributed by one adventurous lady. I’m not sure what Helen must have thought when she first met me as her erstwhile roommate at Bloghouse Ireland, looking all weary from a full day of travel and without any clean clothes to boot as my luggage was still somewhere in Zurich. Still, she was properly sympathetic and she let me have the big bed, so I love my roomie 🙂
Helen’s back in her hometown of Liverpool working in a charity now and you can find this bubbly lady over at Helen in Wonderlust, but once upon her time she embarked on a great big adventure in Africa, and surprised herself by how much she came to love it. I’ll let her tell you a bit more about her travel inspiration:
Liwonde National Park, Malawi, Africa
I love Africa. From the first time I went, Africa imprinted on my heart.
I took this photo in Liwonde National Park in Malawi. Liwonde isn’t as well known as places like the Masai Mara or Serengeti, but it is such a beautiful place for safari and has a hazy, ethereal quality about it. River safaris are possible, so we were able to get right up close to this herd, literally, they were just a few metres away at one point.
Every time I look at this photo, I am reminded just how much I love the continent, and why I am always striving to return… the next trip is in October of this year and I can’t wait!
I visited South Africa with my family quite a while back as a teenager, and I have vivid memories of being on safari and the excitement at seeing animals in the wild (and the terror of facing down a potentially charging elephant…). Morocco and Egypt are on my bucket list, and I think Helen’s sheer enthusiasm could sway me to think about visiting more of Africa some day!
