The Rainbow Buildings of Santa Marta

Imagine transforming grey boring buildings into a riot of rainbow colours!

Here’s one place where you’ll wake up everyday with a smile =) All the way in Santa Marta, a small hillside town (‘Favela’) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been painted into a riotous rainbow coloured neighbourhood.

And it’s not just about making stuff pretty – it’s a community driven project that allows the residents to participate in the beautifying of their neighbourhood. They make a living and learn some new skills, kids stay out of trouble, and overall there’s such a positive feel in the air.
