Assembling the Geografia Globe

So now that you’ve gotten yourself a lovely Geografia globe… how do you go about putting it together? Have no fear, it’s really not difficult at all. The designers have put a lot of thought into it, and it comes together easier than your standard jigsaw puzzle!

I took about 20 mins to fix one together the first time around… The steps are pretty easy to follow on the back of the box, but if you get stuck, here’s a step-by-step guide I did up using the Material Series (Wood) Globe:

STEP 1 – LAY OUT YOUR PIECES AND ADMIRE THE PRETTY

From Top Left (clockwise): 1 x Large Core Centre / 8 x Core Sheets / 8 x Surface Sheets (A – H) / 2 x Small Core Centres

STEP 2 – GET STARTED WITH THE CORE

Fold the Core Sheets in half along the scored line and remove the extraneous cardboard

STEP 3 – ASSEMBLE THE CORE OF THE GLOBE

Insert the Core Sheets into the Core Centres. It should look like the image on the right when completed.

STEP 4 – ADMIRE THE PRETTY SOME MORE

Count that you have 8 Surface Sheets and lay them out in sequence (A-H, H-A, whatever rocks your boat), then fold along the scoreline so each Surface Sheet is curved as such

STEP 5 – PUT IT TOGETHER

Insert the side flaps of the Surface Sheets in between the Core Sheets. As per the numbering, insert #1 flaps first, makes it easier to insert the #2 flaps. Insert the flaps from A – H in an anti-clockwise direction.

STEP 6 – DISPLAY, AND STARE IN AWE

Tadah! Assembled globe with surface panels inserted! Display it fully or with the core showing, whatever your preference!
