I’m oddly fond of the Matryoshka – or what is more commonly known as the Russian nesting doll. I’m endlessly fascinated by the opening of the dolls to discover littler, and littler, and even littler ones inside. My mum has a set where the final doll is just so absolutely tiny that we daren’t display it for fear of it being blown away like dust!
Also, there’s just something about the word. Matryoshka. Matryoshka. Ma-tri-yosh-ka.
More about them sometime, when I do talk about my Russian trip. In the meantime, here’s a pretty way you can welcome the new year with this handmade calendar by Steph Says Hello!
